For more than 100 years, the Whittier Home Association has preserved the writings and home of John Greenleaf Whittier. It was in this house that Whittier met with abolitionists, wrote his wonderful winter poem, Snowbound, and served as a congressman from Massachusetts.

Museum Tour Hours
The J. G. Whittier Home museum located at 86 Friend Street, Amesbury, MA is open for tours from May 7th until Oct. 29, 2011, on Saturdays from 10:00 am - 3:30 pm.Special tours can be arranged by calling the Home at 978-465-5964 or 978-388-1337 .
