Plants and book donations needed for upcoming Plant, Book, and Bake Sale

ks16833Are you a green-thumb gardener with spare plants popping up around your home? Why not consider putting a few in pots and donating them to the upcoming Whittier Home Annual Plant, Bake & Bake Sale which takes place this coming Saturday?

Donations of native perennial flowers and herbs are appreciated. Also needed are donations of books about cooking or gardening. Items can be left at the Whittier home on Friday, morning, May 17, from 9-12, or you may call 978-388-1337 for pickup arrangements. Empty starter pots are available on the back porch of the home.

Garrison biographer to speak in Amesbury on Feb. 23

William Lloyd Garrison, a Newburyport native and editor of the abolitionist newspaper, The Liberator.

William Lloyd Garrison biographer Horace Seldon will present “One And One Make A Thousand: William Lloyd Garrison, one young Abolitionist, from Newburyport, and John Greenleaf Whittier, one young Abolitionist, from Amesbury make Thousands of Abolitionists, from the Whole Nation” at the Friends Meetinghouse at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23.
